| Bio: | I was born in Southern California and raised in Utah. I left for a while as an adult, but came back because when you've hidden behind a dumpster after seeing a gun pulled on someone, you start to appreciate the crime rate in Salt Lake City. I was a card carrying member of the Mormon church for the first 28 years of my life, but I finally saw the light about six years ago. I walked into the Bishop's office one Sunday morning, asked him to find someone else to do my calling, and told him I wouldn't be coming back. I'm sure he thought I was joking, but I've never been back. Nor have I ever regretted the decision. As long as I was freeing myself from a life I hated, I did the job thoroughly and walked away from a 7 year marriage. Suddenly finding myself the single mom of three kids, ages 5, 5 and 3, I started to regret having not finished college and went back to work on a degree in Business. Work and school took up most of my time, but I did manage to make new best friend who truly helped keep me sane during those dark days. Thankfully, my lonely life was to be short lived, because within a year, my best friend became my fiance and I married Shawn in January of 2001. Now, I'm the stay at home mother of 4 1/2 kids (Shawn's daughter is here part time, and we had a child together in 2001). Shawn's daughter is 14. My twin daughters are 12. And then we have two boys, ages 10 and 4. I look forward, someday, to getting out of the house, finishing my degree and maybe finding a career that doesn't include diapers. At the moment, however, health issues keep me home, so I'm going to enjoy the time with my kids and feel grateful to my husband for working so hard to keep me where I'm needed most. I'm a bit of a computer enthusiast, though I have yet to actually earn my geek card. The computer is my window to the world. It's where I read the news, keep up with current events, have conversations with my friends and generally stay sane by networking with other adults. For fun I go to movies with Shawn, or watch TV (Mythbusters and Who's Line is it Anyway are current favorites.) I like puzzles (language and numbers, not jigsaw) and really enjoy spending time with people who can keep me on my toes. My favorite hobby, by far, is reading. I love lying in bed on a Saturday morning with a good book to read and no place to go til I finish it. I tend to lean toward Historical fiction, though I'm not averse to sci-fi/fantasy and have spent many happy hours with a good mystery. Of course it never hurts if the guy gets the girl and in the end they live happily ever after. Guess I'm a bit of a romantic. | |
